9 DAYS ROUNDTRIP

The tourist attraction “National Tourist Routes” is a collection of 18 carefully picked scenic roads for exploring Norway’s breathtaking landscapes. Along these roads you will find excellent spots for breaks and photo-shoots. You will encounter both modern architecture as well as an unmatched landscape in terms of beauty and grandeur.

Day 1: Arrival in Skørping (near Aalborg)

Arrival in Skørping, app. 30 km south of Aalborg. First night will be spent in a hotel in the Danish national park “Rebild Bakker”.

Day 2: Skørping / Jæren / Stavanger (355 KM)

In the morning we drive to Hirtshals and at 12.15 pm we take the ferry to Kristiansund, where we will arrive at 3.30 pm. From Kristiansund we will drive to Ogna, passing both Mandal and the Flekkefjord on our way. The small town of Ogna marks the beginning of the 41 km long Jæren national tourist route. Here you will experience endless beaches and dunes. In the evening we arrive in Stavanger.

Day 3: Stavanger / Ryfylke / Hardanger / Bergen (445 KM)

The green road between Oanes at the Lysefjord and Hårå near Røldal is 183 km long. Close to the road you will find the Prekestolen – a popular attraction and viewpoint several hundred meters above the Lysefjord. After the spectacular Låtefossen waterfall we move on towards Eidfjord where we will see Vøringsvossen – the most visited of all the Norwegian waterfalls. Afterwards we cross the newly built Hardanger Bridge. The Hardanger route takes you through a part of Norway in which the landscape by many is considered to be the embodiment of vintage Norwegian romantic nationalism – with numerous waterfalls, fjords, mountains and glaciers. This region is also often referred to as the orchard of Norway. From here on it is only a short drive into Bergen.

Day 4: Bergen / Sognefjord / Aurlandsvegen / Leikanger (240 KM)

In the morning we will take a city tour in the northernmost of the old hanseatic cities. We will experience both old and new parts of Bergen. Afterwards we travel to Flåm on the shore of the Sognefjord – the longest and deepest of the Norwegian Fjords. From Flåm we move on along the “snow road” (Aurlandsvegen) to Lærdal. On the way we ascend the Aurlandsfjellet plateau. From up here– and on the decent to Aurland- we have a breathtaking view of the fjord landscape. In Lærdal we take the ferry across the fjord to our destination for the night near the Sognefjord.

Day 5: Leikanger / Gaularfjell and old Strynefjellveg / Geiranger (275 KM)

The national tourist route Gaularfjell impresses with its location between narrow fjords, with its serpentine bends on rocky mountain sides and vicinity to picturesque valleys. We move on along the Jostedals glacier to Vidseter where we take the old Strynefjells road to Grotli. From Grotli we proceed on an old masterpiece of road engineering to through a landscape of mountains and fjords to Videsætter. From hereon it is not fra to Geiranger at the world famous Geirangerfjord – since 2005 a UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 6: Geiranger / Trollstigen and Atlatic road / Kristiansund (250 KM)

In the morning hours we travel along the “eagle road” with stunning views on the mountains and the Geirangerfjord. The mountain road Trollstigen with its 11 serpentine bends takes us up to Stigerøra. From here we move on to Molde. In the afternoon we travel along the Atlantic Road that twists through the landscape, from island to island, like a sea serpent. This road was voted the most beloved example of 20´th century architecture by the Norwegians themselves.

Day 7: Kristiansund / Rondane / Hamar (465 KM)

The national tourist route Rondane follows the edge of the Rondane Mountains. Along this route you will have splendid views on the Rondane Mountains – particularly from the Solbergplassen stop. After the route we move on to Lillehammer and Hamar.

Day 8: Hamar / Oslo / Kiel (125 KM)

Today we travel to Oslo. Here we will take a city tour where we, among other things, will visit the Vigeland sculpture park and the royal palace.
