Project Description
7 DAYS ROUNDTRIP
One highlight after another awaits you on this trip through one of the most spectacular and fascinating sceneries in the World – with deep fjords, glacier formations, picturesque villages and majestic mountains. Arrival / Departure from Oslo (flight not incl.)
Day 1: Arrival in Oslo, Gardermoen (by plane) / Hamar (100 km)
After arriving by plane in Oslo a bus awaits to take you up north, towards the town of Hamar. (Airport Oslo Gardermoen – Hamar, app. 100 km.)
Day 2: Hamar / Trollstigen / Ålesund (365 km)
We start out driving along Mjøsa, Norway’s largest lake, through the Gudbrandsdal and the impressive Romsdal valleys, the latter framed by steep mountains. Along the way we pass the Troll Wall, unique in Europe with its rapid decline of a 1000 m. Further on we move on up the famous Troll’s Path, a serpentine mountain road with 11 hairpin bends. Along the Storfjord we progress into Ålesund, a cozy Atlantic harbor town. A must see in Ålesund is Aksla, the local mountain, with its 418 steps. From its peak you will experience a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean and the nearby Sunnørsalpene mountain range.
Day 3: Ålesund / Geirangerfjord / Bøverdal (260 km)
We travel towards Hellesylt and pass the spectacular Geirangerfjord with its abandoned farms and magnificent waterfalls on the way and further on to Geiranger. After Geiranger we ascent the high mountains at Strynenfjell and arrive at the highest located municipality in Norway: Lom. One of the oldest stave churches can be seen here. After Lom we travel down the valley and into Bøverdal.
Day 4: Bøverdal / Sognefjord / Bergen (295 km)
The Sognefjell road takes us over the highest mountain pass in Norway and through numerous hairpin bends down to the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest Fjord in Norway. After a short ferry ride we move on towards Flåm. On the way we pass through the 25 km long Lærdalstunnel, one of the longest tunnels in the world. Optional: A trip with the famous Flåm train via Myrdal to Voss, where we reconnect with the rest of the group (not incl.). After Voss we move on to Bergen. In Bergen a 2 hour city tour awaits. Here we will walk through old and newer parts of the city, see the world famous fish market, the old city center and the Hanseatic wharf.
Day 5: Bergen / Hardangerfjord / Gol (290 km)
The Hardangefjord is famous for its orchards and numerous waterfalls. In 2013 the new Hardanger-bridge was opened, and from here on it is only a short trip to Vøringsfossen, the most visited of the Norwegian waterfalls. After here we ascend onto the Hardangervidda plateau and move on to Geilo and Gol.
Day 6: Gol / Oslo (200 km)
We travel through the Hallingdal valley and along the Tyrifjord towards Oslo. In Oslo a 3 hour city tour awaits. Here we will experience the Vigeland Park with its 200 sculptures, the royal palace, the new opera building and the city hall. The afternoon is open for leisure pursuits and offers the possibility to end a magnificent vacation on your own terms.
